José Yitani-Rios

Jose E. Yitani-Rios was born in Puebla City, Mexico. Yitani-Rios has a B.S. and a M.M.A. from the University of Las Americas and a M.L.A. from the Institute of Public Administration in Puebla. Prior to attending HKS, Yitani-Rios held various public positions at state and local government levels in Puebla, working on issues related to public sector reform, access to education, anti-corruption, poverty reduction, gender equality, and the rights of indigenous people. He served as the deputy director of the Divisions of Public Debt and Public Investments and most recently as Puebla’s Minister of Social Development. In 2004, Yitani-Rios received a World Bank award recognizing his efforts in designing and implementing an anti-corruption strategy. In 2007, he received the America Award for Excellence in Public Service from the International Training Center for Government Authorities and Civil Society Leaders.
