Research Grants

Through the generosity of Roy and Lila Ash, the Ash Institute awards research grants to HKS students for independent research projects. Preference is given to projects related to the Institute’s core interests in innovations improving democratic governance. Recipients of the grants are expected to present their research at a seminar in the fall following their return.

Students interested in applying for an Ash Institute 2009 Research Grant should complete the application and submit the following:

  • Description of your project (500 words) including work already completed, methodology, and a clear explanation of why the funding is necessary for the project
  • Itemized budget, including funds applied for or received through other sources
  • Timeline, including travel dates, itinerary, and the schedule for your project
  • Resume
  • Transcript (unofficial is acceptable)
  • Name of your faculty advisor for this class/project
  • Faculty recommendation (an email endorsement is acceptable)
